Mevagissey

If you are looking for harbour villages in Cornwall, you are spoiled for choice, but there are very few that are as busy or as picturesque as Mevagissey. It has a twin harbour which not only makes for some beautiful pictures, it also provides a home for the fishing boats coming in and out, landing catches and selling to local shops and restaurants.

It's not just fishing boats that you will find on Mevagissey harbour, you can take a sightseeing boat trip or even a speedboat trip which does look like fun, and as prices start from £5 for a boat trip, it won't break the bank either.

Even though it's a really busy place, Mevagissey still has a relaxed feel to it, and you can walk around the harbour and take in the wonderful sights, or sit in a restaurant and have some delicious food that was caught as locally as it gets!

There are a number of local shops and places to eat, drink and get an ice cream, watch out for the seagulls though, seriously, one tried to take my raspberry ripple and white chocolate cone, they're not shy!

Whilst you are in Mevagissey, have a look in Mevagissey Museum, it is totally free to enter, and there you can learn a lot about the local history of the area and see some really interesting artefacts. It's not an all day activity, but it's definitely wroth a visit.

Mevagissey is a beautiful place with a very rich history that the locals are rightly very proud of. So take a visit and remember to watch out for the seagulls!
